What is Evolastin?
Who is a candidate?
Good candidates for the Evolastin procedure are people who have lax skin, especially in the cheeks or jowls, wrinkles along the cheeks and loss of volume around the mouth. Evolastin is good for all skin types as the radio frequency energy is colorblind allowing this to be a safe treatment for persons with Asian and dark skin.
If you are pregnant you should not have this procedure.
What is Evolastin like?
Evolastin is usually a standalone single treatment. When you arrive at the office, you will receive local anesthetic to the areas being treated. During the treatment you will not feel any pain as with the anesthetic there is usually no discomfort.
How does Evolastin work ?
Evolastin works by inserting a cartridge of an array of precisely spaced needles into the
skin. These miniature needles are placed
at the exact depth of the skin where the cells that make new collagen and
elastin reside. By heating these cells
into a specific temperature, the ePrime technology stimulates a formation of
new tissue collagen elastic fibers as well as tightening existing tissue. Old collagen and elastic tissue will slowly be removed by the body and then replaced with the new collagen.
What type of equipment is used?
Evolastin's technology is the ePrime, a machine utilizing a hand piece with a disposable cartridge made up of an array of radiofrequency energy needles. The hand piece is then placed by a doctor or physician assistant on the areas that have been pre-determined and marked off to enhance the effect. Then needles penetrate into the skin and release heat for a specific amount of time at a precise temperature.
What desired results can be expected?
The desired result is more firm skin, wrinkle reduction, an improvement of the jaw line and improvement of the laxity of the skin and jowls and an improvement of volume around the mouth. There is also a reduction of laxity of the upper neck As the body replaces old collagen and elastic tissue with new collagen and elastic tissue, you will see an improvement over several months. Evolastin is usually performed as one treatment.
Are there any negatives?
One can expect some downtime with the procedure which includes at least two days of swelling and a week of shedding of the skin and the anesthetic placed before the procedure is somewhat uncomfortable. The results may take up to 3 months to be fully apparent and there are risks as with any surgical procedure, like infection.
What happens after Evolastin?
Post an Evolastin treatment, you can expect two days of swelling and redness, an appearance of tiny dotted marks on the treated area and up to a week of some minor shedding of the skin.
Is there another way to get the same effect?
With an Evolastin treatment, you can achieve the same effect with this treatment if you choose to have a face lift. The ePrime technology has been tested and shown to have 1/3 result of an actual facelift but with an Evolastin treatment, there is not cutting of the skin. You can also see similar results with a tissue tightening procedure, liposuction of the neck, fillers in the face or a combination of these treatments.
How is this different than other procedures?
Evolastin is unique as a procedure because it combines the results of variety of technologies to achieve tightening, wrinkle reduction and enhancing of elastic tissue and volume around the mouth which we lose as we age. It is an alternative to a combination of treatments such a tissue tightening, laser and fillers procedures.
Can this be combined with other treatments?
If you are looking to maximize achieving a rejuvenated and younger appearance, an Evolastin treatment can be combined with fillers, BOTOX®, laser and photo rejuvenation but not on the same day.
What is the cost of Evolastin?
The fees for ePrimeTM are based on the areas being treated. Please call Advanced Dermatology for a consultation and the Cosmetic Coordinator will develop a personalized treatment protocol with you.
